Role: Land use planning, local coordination

HNTB Corporation is an architectural, engineering, and planning firm providing services to public and private clients throughout the United States. Since the firm's inception in 1914, HNTB has grown to become one of the nation's premier architecture, engineering, and planning firms, and currently employs nearly 2,000 professionals in 60 locations nationwide, including more than 240 airport specialists. HNTB maintains divisions of independent offices, through which it can offer its clients local, personalized services, while offering the skills and talents of a national base of expertise. This approach allows each office to service its immediate locale with the flexibility and sense of personal involvement of a small organization, yet assures that the professional skills, facilities, and manpower in each discipline are available. The company is proud of its communication with clients and the hands-on, localized services it offers.

HNTB has engaged in airport studies, planning, and design since 1944. In 53 years, the firm has handled more than 2,300 airport projects with construction costs exceeding $12 billion. More than 150 airports -- ranging from international facilities at Louisville, Chicago, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Miami, Vancouver, Orlando, and Washington, D.C., to regional, reliever, and general aviation airports in many states -- have been developed with HNTB assistance. Professional services provided by HNTB airport specialists include master plans, planning models and computer simulations, preliminary site investigations, complete engineering and architectural design, construction inspection, and operating and maintenance studies.

The HNTB-Louisville office, established in 1987, also brings extensive experience to the FAR Part 150 Update, as staff members are thoroughly familiar with local community development issues and the land use regulatory procedures. The office has approximately 35 engineers, landscape architects, technicians, and support personnel, and is supported by the company's resources of engineers, technicians, architects, planners, and support staff. As a permanent member of the community, HNTB has personal interests in local projects such as the FAR Part 150 Update. For this study, the HNTB-Louisville office would serve as a local base of operation for the LFA Team.
